strawberries
It is strawberry season and there is NOTHING better than a fresh from the sun soaked plant than a ripened strawberry. (in my opinion)
My son loves this so much he has his very own little patch of berries in our garden. Each morning he heads out in his PJs to check on the state of his berries. His patch is just grand enough for a single berry a day.
My boys and I have had a tradition of heading out to the fields and picking buckets full. Honestly, they do more snacking than picking, but that is why we arrive early in the day. We might as well call it breakfast.
This year has been an odd early summer and the you-pick-fields have not been open. Our custom of heading to the fields has been a bit different this year. Instead, we are scoping out the farm stands gathering the little teal cardboard boxes. The jam has not been made because the quart of berries does not even make it home. As we bite into each perfect red ripe strawberry we squeal with delight, “Oh, look at this one!”
This Week’s A Door Within:
I invite you to think of a food. Be transported to that time, place and moment.
Taste it.
Remember it.
Allow your memories to be flooded with joy.
