It is clear from being in Ashley’s yoga classes that she has many years of experience and is knowledgeable about a variety of different yoga styles and practices but as a beginner, it still feels relaxed. There are still opportunities to challenge your mind and body throughout the session and the other participants were all so encouraging and kind.

Styles and Offerings

  • Vinyasa Yoga is an all level class. Directions for increasing or decreasing the level of difficulty are provided for students to decide the best level for themselves. A goal of this class is to help build both strength and flexibility to balance the body. The flowing movement through poses builds heat in the body to prepare the student to restorative stretches and relaxation toward the end of class. Breath control is emphasized which aids the student to connect with their core muscles and assists in focusing. Lessons learned during yoga may better prepare students for a calmer response to life's challenges.

  • Strong Flow: A Vinyasa style yoga, that includes flowing through warm up and strength building sequences, with many options for adding upper body work (half series / chatturanga dandasana). Poses may also be established and held a bit longer than in the Mixed Flow class. Build strength, flexibility, and increase cardiovascular fitness with a Strong Flow practice. This class is designed for students who have some yoga experience, are fairly fit, and are looking for more challenge, inner awareness, stamina, embodiment and strength building.

  • Stillness is a powerful practice. Restorative classes are typically mellow and low-energy, making them a great complement to more active and athletic styles of practice (as well as our busy lives) and an excellent antidote to stress. In a vinyasa class, you move quickly from one pose to another as you build heat and increase your strength and flexibility over time. In restorative yoga, we allow the body to release with time and space.

Restorative yoga is suitable for practitioners of all levels. By definition, restorative yoga is a restful practice where we will hold poses for 5-20 minutes using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters. With the use of props for support, many of the postures are held almost effortlessly. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga—the union of body and mind.

When the body enters a state of relaxation the mind can also consciously relax as tension is released from both body and mind. The only work that's required on your part during a restorative yoga practice is to pay attention to your breath and become aware of any sensations or thoughts that may arise.

  • Prenatal yoga classes are appropriate for all stages of pregnancy and no previous experience is necessary to participate. The focus is on helping expecting mothers connect with their baby, maintain a healthy pregnancy, and alleviate common discomforts experienced throughout pregnancy. Yoga is a perfect way to restore and relax at all stages of motherhood and to prepare your body and mind for childbirth. Yoga for pregnancy offers a combination of strengthening and stretching in preparation for birth. We will learn effective breathing techniques, pelvic floor exercises, fetal positioning for labor, hip openers, as well as postures to release tension in the neck, shoulders, and back.

  • Age appropriate yoga poses, partner and group poses all encourage family or kids bonding time all while building confidence and self-esteem. This class incorporates art, music and fun yoga games for the whole family!

  • Senior/Chair Yoga benefits everyone’s holy trinity – physical, mental, and emotional well-being while not being too physically strenuous. Perfect for anyone of any age, so start now and feel the difference!

Chair yoga helps to stretch the body in places that may not be normally stretched and forces the body to push itself. This helps to increase the flexibility of a person and maintain it, improving overall mobility for daily tasks.

Senior Yoga is slow, measured movements, strengthening poses and focused breathing help improve your balance, flexibility, stability and strength as well as giving you a sense of well-being and enhanced quality of life.
