honor

At the end of class on Monday I offered students to transition into their personal practice as I always do with about 15 minutes remaining.  Many students move into additional twists, maybe core, or an inversion of their choosing.  This is a time to be internal, within and allowing students to just listen to what THEY need.

I love this part of practice and seeing all of my students taking care of what they need as they need it.  10 bodies, in 10 different forms- truly honoring their internal wisdom.

On Monday, within minutes, every person is flat on their backs in their final resting pose.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

Lake Michigan is also at rest

At the end of class, I move around the room and share a bit of reiki and a shoulder adjustment with each participant.  As I finished the fifteenth person, I looked up at the clock and there was still eight minutes left!  I am normally a minute or two OVER by the time I am back to my mat.

As I sat gazing over class I sent a collective well wish, and gratitude for students who know how to listen within.

What we want is rest.

February is a challenging time of year.  Our bodies are depleted and the sun is sending us the desire to start moving into spring.  There are still six weeks left of winter (or if you live in Door County- twelve).

Take a moment and honor yourself.  If what your body needs is more rest?

Rest.

Take a moment to enjoy that cup of tea, snuggle up by the fire, or crawl in bed early with a good book.  I promise, your body will thank you.

This Week’s A Door Within:

  • What does my body truly want?

  • Do I still feel winter?

  • When was the last time I honored what I truly wanted?
