Meditation
10 reasons to Meditate
Research has documented many health benefits of regular meditation practice.
Reduced stress: Meditation may decrease stress. It can also improve symptoms of stress-related conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and fibromyalgia.
Improved memory: Better focus through regular meditation may increase memory and mental clarity. These benefits can help fight age-related memory loss and dementia.
Increased attention: Meditation helps with attention span, allowing you to stay focused longer.
Enhanced willpower: Meditation develops the mental discipline needed to avoid unhelpful habits.
Better sleep: Meditation can shorten the time it takes to fall asleep and improve sleep quality.
Less pain: Meditation can reduce pain and boost emotion regulation. Together with medical care, this may help treat chronic pain.
Lower blood pressure: Blood pressure decreases during meditation and over time in people who meditate regularly. This can reduce strain on the heart and blood vessels and help prevent heart disease.
Less anxiety: Regular meditation helps reduce anxiety. It can also help with mental health issues like social anxiety, fears and obsessive-compulsive behaviors.
Less depression: Meditation can help reduce the occurrence of depression.
Greater compassion: Meditation can help you better understand yourself, find your best self, and increase positive feelings and actions toward others.

Through a talk down meditation, participants are allowed to recline or remain seated. During our practice we train the mind to stay put. Using sensory input, visual narration, sensory perception of the body and breathwork we encourage the mind to remain present for a meditative experience. The session also includes periods of silence for deeper self-connection, breath work and restorative peace.

Japa is a form of meditation that uses mantras to quiet and focus the mind. A mantra can be a single-syllable sound, word or phrase that is repeated silently or chanted aloud. Japa is a Sanskrit word that means “muttering” or “repeating in a murmuring tone.” Frequently the use of a mala is engaged to complete the Japa 108 times during the meditation session.

Yoga Nidra literally means yogic sleep. It is an ancient technique where the practitioner enters the deep states of conscious relaxation. It is a systematic practice of moving awareness from our external world to the inner world. It brings us to a state of deep sleep where our senses, intellect, and mind relax. As a facilitator, I guide participants into a deep meditative sleep- while (hopefully) not actually falling asleep. Participants strive to hover at the alpha wave to focus on releasing and manifesting.
