body board
My boys and I were body boarding this week, a wonderful sport of jumping up and riding a wave to shore. The conditions have to be just right where there is enough force to jump, catch, then ride. The more you practice, the better you get at reading a wave. You quickly learn how to hold the board, when to jump, and the best place to catch at its most prominent energy point. You also learn which waves will be duds and which will knock you off your board.
It was the last day of summer and just what my boys needed. Time in the water, balancing their energy, connecting with nature and going with the flow.
Life is always flowing within, around and beyond us. When we are connected to Divine sources of energy there is an immense joy that emanates from within. When we are a part of this life-force we are connected to Elements/Gods/Self.
We too often get hooked into our day-to-day existence and our attachments for a particular outcome. When we are focused on the details we miss the ability to trust the waves. We forget about our depth of understanding of what we are capable of within our inner knowing. Just as we are able to read when to jump for the perfect wave; in life, we also need to jump. We need to align our lives with not just the parts of adventure or perfection, but waiting.
Often when bobbing in the water, you may see a series of two or three waves rolling in. They all have the potential to be great. They all have the potential to carry you to your desired destination. But you have to choose. Which will you hold out on and which will you ride? You have to trust your gut. Sometimes you miss out and it's okay because another will be along soon. But we are aligning our inner knowing with the nature around us.
By aligning life with the knowing and accepting there is bound to be a wave that alters our course, we begin to understand that we cannot control the cycles of nature in all its forms.
When we attach our expectations and desires to a particular wave, we may suffer because we are attaching ourselves to what may not be. When we live in harmony with the waves before us, we learn to embrace the ups and down, the truths and lies, the births and deaths. We learn nothing is forever, and if we get thrown off, we have to get back on.
We cannot live with the illusion that we can control our destiny. When we truly are willing to live authentically through the ebbs and flows of life, we are then able to be a part of the beauty of the cycles of nature around us. It means shifting from a state of victimhood “Nothing good ever happens to me” to “I haven’t learned when to jump”.
This Week’s A Door Within:
How can I align myself with the waves of life?
Where can I shift to a space of living in harmony with the energy of today?
