Dinner-on-the-Go
I try to eat homemade meals at every chance I get. BUT if you are like a typical family, you are on the go which means dinner is at a field, gym or auditorium. You may be saying- Yes, I would love to do that, but it’s not feasible. The back of my car is always ready. That helps, because it is less to pack each night.
The car:
Small Rubbermaid tub
Reusable bowls and plates I can wipe down
A few cloth napkins- they have 10,000 uses
Reusable silverware
Extra water bottle
In a basket bag:
Blanket
Sunscreen and bug spray
Extra change of clothes (especially sandals)
First-Aid Kit
Paper towels, baby wipes
Gallon of water
Dinner ideas:
I have one of those snack trays- we call it “kid salad” I load it up with fruits and veggies for the boys to share and already pre-cut ready to go sides. This is perfect for our family to have a base for all meals and easy outdoor eating needs. Kid Salad is always present.
Grilled Brats with salad, hard boiled eggs, and cottage cheese

Pasta in a jar
Slow cooker meat in a tortilla + cheese and cilantro
BLT’s
Soup in a thermos for those in the rain games
Greek Pita Wraps with shredded chicken
Ground Beef Nachos
Meatballs on ANYTHING from a sandwich to pasta- those pre-made meatballs are a game changer.
Beef and Broccoli on rice

Bowls that I prep in tupperware containers. Rachael’s Good Eats is one of my go-to blogs for all things dinner recipes or her book “High Protein Plate”. She includes high protein veggie heavy meals that are easy to make with realistic ingredients.
MOST IMPORTANT: Remember a fed human is a happy human. So if it doesn’t work in a day or week there is a reason that the drive through exists! Maintain your personal sanity first always.
