clean fish tank
Well it has been over a month since I last wrote. What a few months it has been!
Life was full, and I needed to prioritize, but I am excited to be back and focused on what I WANT.
What I want is to create and hold space for women to come together. To share, connect and be free to relax. I am so excited to do just that, also because I need those elements in my life as well. I need time to connect with myself, nature and other fabulous women. But more on that later.
I am reading the book “Think Like a Monk” by Jay Sheety currently and it is wonderful. He talks about mindfully doing everyday tasks. Today, while cleaning the fish tank- every mom’s favorite job- I took time to wash each stone, get the layers of green slime off the walls and be sure the water had set out for at least 24 hours. I was being thoughtful in a task I normally rush through. I decided I wanted to be intentional on it’s cleanliness, mostly because I wanted to be able to extend the time between cleanings. I thought, ‘If I do a REALLY deep clean, leaving nothing else, then MAYBE I will get this tank to last an extra week or two.’
This made me think… What else in my life needs deeper attention?
What am I doing too fast and without intention
that regrows the slime and requires my time once more?
As I am cleaning the tank, I gaze up as water splashes up onto my kitchen window. Guess who I should see but a Ruby Throated Hummingbird. A bird of joy. They truly do bring joy as their little heart and wings patter, I can’t help but smile in their beauty. Hummingbird reminds me to experience the magic of living even in the mundane tasks of washing a fish tank. How lucky am I, to live this beautiful life with all of you by my side.
This weeks A Door Within:
What in life needs deeper attention?
When we can’t remember what we were just doing, why?
What am I having to redo because I am not acting with intention?
What do I desire to be doing? Finish what I am doing WELL, so that I can do THAT instead!
What tasks to I appreciate, knowing the beauty of life they lead to?
With intention,
♥ Ashley
PS: Be on the look out for all my favorite things to be on the schedule once more soon! I cannot wait to connect with each of you with new focused intention, and attention!
