healing waters

I saw an image on Pinterest and thought- I want to paint her!  Only I want “her” to be ME.

I had the canvas and where I wanted a new painting.  When I saw the image early this summer, I knew it had to happen.  Fast forward and I wasn’t feeling inspired to paint what I wanted to create.  I needed to have space.

Because being creative takes SPACE.

Recently my husband asked of the blank canvas that has been hanging in this honored space, “When are you going to do something with this?”   ‘Soon’.

This morning, the stars aligned.  I sat planning my day, one element of which is to go float in the lake, the days are numbered where I can actually float and not just a quick dip. My goal is to go in every month- at least once.  (We will see if I can make it into December!  I started in March and have been going strong.) When I was in meditation, my painting came to me.  I knew the colors, the energy and the composition.  I could see her.  Today was it.  I had space to create.

Out came the paint, newspaper and pallet.  I decided I wanted to use one brush and never stop moving.  I wanted a flow of connection just as the waves ebb.  I wanted to be of the water.

I turned on one of my favorite playlists.  I will link it here.  The water is my safety, my purifier, my soul.

I am a water being.

I wanted the painting to be a second look image. I wanted it to be abstract where you could tell it was the lake, but you would have to look. I live on Lake Michigan, so it makes sense that there is a water painting in my home.  I wanted it to be light and airy.  So often the sky and water are vibrant blues and greens.  I wanted this to feel sun drenched.  I knew I was going to be present.  But again, only if you looked, would you see me.  Otherwise, I disappeared, I am of the water.  What may look like a little smear of color is me.

There, floating, of the water

This Week’s A Door Within:

  • What is your need for SPACE?

  • How do you know when you have Space?

  • When you have Space, what can you create?

  • What would it take in your life to give breath and thus the Space you crave?
