equilibrium
This past weekend was the autumnal equinox. During retreat, women’s circle and yoga, I shared a guided meditation about balance. Currently we are at the mid- point between light and darkness, warm and cold, growth and decomposition. We are at equilibrium.
During meditation, I asked my guests to hold their fears in one hand and joys in the other. As they felt and experienced both, we need to accept that both are real. Both are always present.
But just as the sun finds extremes, so do our hurts and our loves. There will be moments when the joys are so extreme that you fear your heart may explode with ecstasy. While at other times, the hurts are so painful you fear there cannot be another tear within you.
We need to be accepting of our day's journey. For just like the sun, there are but mercurial moments when we ACTUALLY live in true balance. That exact moment happens just twice a year. Predominantly, we fluctuate between overwhelming sunlight or enveloping darkness.
The true test is holding both, acknowledging you have both and that just as the sun- equilibrium will momentarily come again.
